ABOUT ROMI
I'm a multi-passionate digital artist with 18 years of experience exploring various media and industries. My expertise ranges from photography, marketing, and social media to video editing and content creation. I graduated from The Art Institute of California Orange County with a Bachelorβs degree in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics. After graduation, I had the exciting opportunity to work in Hollywoodβs entertainment industry. Although I learned a great deal from this experience, I quickly realized it wasn't the long-term path I wanted to pursue.
When I moved back to San Diego in 2014, I shifted my focus heavily towards photography. Capturing portraits of people and promoting small businesses, artists, and causes I believe in became my passion. I began freelancing more consistently while searching for a full-time job. During this period, I realized the importance of expanding my knowledge in business. Although math was never my favorite subject, I have always had an analytical mind. I love learning, organizing data, creating new processes, troubleshooting, and teaching. This curiosity led me to dive into the world of finance and operations. I wanted to understand the ins and outs of running a business to confidently grow my own projects and help other companies and organizations I care about succeed. I worked as an Accounting Manager for six years before eventually returning to a full-time creative role.
In 2018, my life took another turn when I began working with my sister on an upcycling project called The Bountiful Bag. What started as an innovative fashion project for craft beer aficionados quickly became a major passion, opening our eyes to the need for large-scale recycling solutions in the craft beverage industry. Since then, I have been involved in the inception of two environmental nonprofits that help divert waste in San Diego: Sustainability Is Sexy and the San Diego Brewcycling Collaborative. Additionally, I served as Marketing Manager at Misadventure & Co., a sustainable distillery in Vista, from 2020 to 2022.
As an artist, I continue to enjoy photo sessions, renting out my photo booth for events and parties, and creating art for my personal satisfaction. Ultimately, I aim to use my voice and platform to promote the businesses and organizations I love and engage with my community on the importance of taking care of our planet.
